Why Giving Matters

Parents focus their philanthropy initially through gifts to the Parents Annual Fund at the Leaders Circle level—a minimum of $25,000 annually during their student’s time at Yale College. These gifts are a resource to address Yale College’s most urgent needs at the discretion of the Dean. As parents become familiar with the breadth of engagement opportunities in the Yale community, they may choose to increase their philanthropy through endowed funds or capital gifts to areas of particular interest.

Impact of Parent Giving at Yale

Last fiscal year (ending June 30, 2024), Yale University raised over $746.3 million in new commitments. Non-alumni parents contributed $30.9 million to that total, reflecting their staunch support for key areas across the university. The Parents Annual Fund raised $4.97 million, over 44 percent of which came from PLC members. We are grateful to the many families who count Yale among their philanthropic priorities.

For the Bigger Picture

The university-wide For Humanity campaign is the most ambitious fundraising effort in Yale’s history, guided by our mission to improve the world now and for future generations. Priorities span the humanities, arts, and sciences, emphasizing interdisciplinary collaboration and increased access to a Yale education through new funding for scholarships and fellowships. With this campaign, Yale is making bold investments for the greatest impact, ensuring that our faculty and students have the support they need as they tackle the most critical challenges facing humankind.

The For Humanity campaign encompasses all gifts for all purposes. Your generosity will combine with that of all alumni, parents, family, and friends to help the university reach its ambitious goals.
